Norway is beautiful in the simulator too. Short hop from Mosjoen to Stokka in nice weather.
Let’s fly to Malaga
Today we will do a classic VA flight for Scandinavian Virtual Airlines from Stockholm/Arlanda to Malaga. One of my favourite aircraft have always been the McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 series.
Some Scandinavian airliner flying
Cruising at 41,000 ft on a short hop from Stockholm to Copenhagen and back with the PMDG Boeing 737-600. The image shows the view through the HUD – or Head-Up-Display – which some 737’s are equipped with. The HUD presents a lot of information to the pilot without him or her having to look inside at the instrument panel. Great help for instance when landing in bad visibility!
Crossing the North Atlantic vintage style
Currently doing a positioning flight from Goose Bay in Canada to Reykjavík in Iceland with the wonderful Douglas DC-6B from PMDG for the X-Plane simulator. Cruising at 11,000 feet between Canada and Greenland and will be landing in about four hours.
Read more about the Douglas DC-6B. One of the greatest airliners of its’ era and even today one of the most efficient airplanes ever developed.
If you want to fly one of the best flight simulators available for PC, Mac or Linux, we suggest looking into X-Plane 11.
The start of a new year and a new virtual world tour
One of the fun things which I and fellow members of the Virtual Pilots Association (VPA) always look forward to this time of the year is the release of the VPA World Tour for the new year. It is usually released on New Years Day after hard work done by the planning team, and a lot of guessing in the VPA forum by other members on what the next tour will be like.
This year we begin the tour in Antarctica. From Teniente Rodolfo Marsh Martin on King George Island. Far away from almost everything. It is a short gravel runway for take off followed by a 500 nautical mile hop across open sea making choosing a good aircraft type for the job imperitive.
After deliberating with myself, I picked the Airbus A319 from Aerosoft. Faster than my favourite – the Douglas DC-3 – but gravel strip operation might not be a usual thing for the Airbus.
Lined up for take off from runway 11. Only 4,200 feet long. Short but doable with flaps config 2 and maximum take off thrust.
Returning back home to Yellowknife after five legs and 6.5 hours flying with C46 flying for Buffalo Airways Virtual. Departed Yellowknife in heavy snow and was happy to better weather when returning.
Back again
Climbing out of Bodo, Norway bound for Oslo with a Scandinavian Boeing 737-700 at dusk. Nice evening flight. Landed at Gardemoen in complete darkness and rain.
Another day in the virtual office
Crossing southern Alaska with the C-46 and enjoying the scenery.
Commando in Alaska
Joined a tour of Alaska with Buffalo Airways Virtual. All legs are flown the Curtiss C-46 Commando C-FAVO. Tonight I did not see much of Alaska due to low clouds most of the time, but we made it from Juneau, AK to Cordova, AK.
In a right hand turn after departure from Yakatut, AK. Turning north along the coast line bound for Cordova.
